It is vital that everyone in a law firm complies with data protection law. Firms can be fined up to £500,000 otherwise. You are also at risk of fraud and theft if your information security precautions are not watertight. And of course the SRA Code of Conduct requires that firms comply with DP legislation and keep client information safe.
The course has two distinct modules:
- Data Protection in Law Firms: this explains data protection law in general, as it applies within law firms (e.g. when you can collect and use client data or share it with third parties). It poses real life dilemmas, and explains best practice. Also refers to coming changes under the GDPR.
- Information Security in Law Firms: more than just cyber security, this explains risks including the techniques crooks may use to hack into your system, intercept funds or otherwise gain access to client money or information. It takes users through the precautions they must take.
Each module comes with a separate quiz to ensure people have really understood.
Each module provides 30 minutes CPD (60 minutes in total, including the quizzes).
Suitable for both group and individual training.
